Porsche Carrera Cup GB scholars keep on training (26-6-09)   Sutton

While the Porsche Carrera Cup GB takes a six-week mid-season break from racing, the two drivers in the 2009 Carrera Cup GB Scholarship Programme will be hard at work on their on-going fitness campaigns with the Human Performance Centre at the Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone.

Lewis Hopkins and Tom Bradshaw have been working on fitness all through the season, with support from the Human Performance Centre as part of the package for winning the inaugural Carrera Cup GB Scholarship.

The young racers have been put through an intensive programme of training, including mountain biking, swimming and gym work, with regular assessments at the Silverstone facility.

"It's all about improving performance through general fitness and we follow a weekly fitness programme," said Hopkins. "It’s a fantastic experience and knowing that you are fitter certainly helps in the car. It gives more mental focus."

Although based in Lancashire, Bradshaw has been able to keep in contact with the Human Performance Centre by an e-log.

"It has definitely been good for me and over the summer break from racing I'm going to try and step it up a bit more," said Bradshaw. "It's been brilliant to have this resource available."

Along with the rest of the Carrera Cup GB grid, Hopkins and Bradshaw will be back in action when the season resumes at Snetterton over the weekend of 1/2 August.
